The Archdiocese of Gulu has been left in deep sorrow following the mysterious disappearance of the Blessed Sacrament at Kitgum Mission Parish. According to a pastoral communication released by Archbishop Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, the consecrated Host in the monstrance was discovered missing on Wednesday, October 21, as clergy attempted to reposition it following an exposition.

For Catholics, the Blessed Sacrament represents the true and real presence of Christ, making the disappearance a severe spiritual blow to the faithful. The parish priest promptly alerted the Parish Pastoral Council and formally reported the incident to the local police force to launch a thorough investigation.

Church leadership has issued a stern call for calm among the congregation. Officials urged believers to refrain from spreading unverified rumors and making baseless accusations. Instead, anyone possessing credible information about the incident has been asked to contact the parish priest or law enforcement privately to assist with the ongoing inquiry.

In response to the distressing event, Archbishop Wokorach announced a nine-day novena scheduled to run from October 28 to November 5. The period of intense prayer aims to facilitate the safe return of the Blessed Sacrament, uncover the truth behind the disappearance, and pray for the spiritual conversion of anyone involved in the sacrilege.

The unfortunate occurrence unfolds as the Archdiocese prepares to mark the climax of its major Diamond Jubilee celebrations, according to a statement released by Chancellor Rev Fr Raymonds Atube.
