The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has commended the government for recognising the profound contributions of the late Sheikh Ibrahim Nkangi to Islam, education, and community development.

Mubaje made these remarks while addressing a large congregation during Friday prayers at Masjid Rahman in Nansana, Wakiso District. The gathering, organised by the Wakiso Muslim District under the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), brought together local leaders, parents, and students.

Aside from paying tribute to Sheikh Nkangi, the religious gathering served as a moment of spiritual encouragement for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) candidates. Mubaje urged the young learners to blend their faith with hard work, discipline, and honesty as they gear up for their upcoming national exams.

Another major highlight of the event was the recognition of local imams who successfully completed management courses at Namasuba College of Commerce. The training program covered administration, financial literacy, and leadership to help imams efficiently run mosques and community projects. Adding to the celebration, Hajjat Hadija Namyalo Uzeiye, the Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), pledged start-up capital to help the graduating imams launch income-generating activities.

In return, Mufti Mubaje presented an award to Namyalo in recognition of her ongoing support for youth and women empowerment initiatives across Muslim communities. The event concluded with fervent prayers for the PLE candidates, national peace, and the lasting legacy of Sheikh Nkangi. Read more about this story on Nile Post.
