Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Deputy Executive Director, Benon Kigenyi, has called upon recent university graduates to move beyond theoretical knowledge and focus on developing practical solutions for society.

Speaking as the chief guest during the graduation ceremony of the Monaco Institute of Business and Computer Science in Kibuli, Makindye Division, Kigenyi emphasized that completing school marks the beginning of a larger societal responsibility. He challenged those trained in business, technology, and information management to utilize innovation to tackle pressing community and business hurdles.

Kigenyi specifically pointed out urban dilemmas facing Kampala, such as traffic congestion and poor waste management. He noted that the city requires creative minds capable of transforming these hurdles into viable opportunities through practical innovations that enhance service delivery and residents’ overall quality of life.

Rather than solely seeking traditional employment, the KCCA official encouraged graduates to become job creators by establishing enterprises. He stressed that Uganda and Africa at large need skilled professionals who can leverage technology for efficiency and informed decision-making.

Furthermore, Kigenyi cautioned the youth against relying purely on technical expertise, particularly as artificial intelligence reshapes modern workplaces. He highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence, teamwork, discipline, and adaptability in navigating a competitive environment.

Concluding his remarks, Kigenyi reminded the audience that the ultimate purpose of knowledge is service, urging young professionals to position Uganda favorably for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
