Coca-Cola recently celebrated the ingenuity of 26 university students, honoring them for their exceptional participation in the Essawa Yona Kisoboka Content Creation Challenge. The recognition took place at the vibrant Makerere Freshers’ Ball, held at the university’s Impis Rugby Grounds.
Thousands of students converged at the venue to enjoy electrifying performances from top Ugandan music acts like Winnie Nwagi, Ykee Benda, and Nina Rose. Amidst the entertainment, the spotlight shone brightly on the young digital creators who turned their everyday campus experiences into engaging online material.
The challenge invited students across various higher institutions to produce original content centered around English Premier League matchdays, favorite meals, and special Coca-Cola moments. Participants hailed from institutions including Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Kampala International University (KIU), and Kyambogo University.
Winners expressed immense excitement over the cash rewards and public recognition. Benjamin Kalema, a MUBS student known as Zoom Media, noted that the competition challenged him to think outside the box. Meanwhile, Britney Melisa from KIU expressed optimism that the milestone would unlock future collaborative doors with the beverage brand.
Barry Otieno, Coca-Cola’s Senior Marketing Manager in Uganda, lauded the winners for their innovative spirit. He urged participants to stay consistent and look forward to more rewards lined up throughout the campaign period.
The Essawa Yona Kisoboka initiative utilizes digital platforms to resonate with young adults, encouraging creative expression across lifestyle topics such as football, music, and fashion. Eligible participants aged 18 and above can join by publishing original content on TikTok or Instagram using official campaign hashtags.
