Emorimor to Engage Museveni Over Detained Lt Gen Elwelu

The Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) leader, Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot, has announced plans to hold discussions with President Yoweri Museveni regarding the detention of retired Lt Gen Peter Elwelu.

The planned engagement is scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the ongoing Cultural Leaders Conference hosted at State House, Entebbe. Emorimor has urged the public and regional leaders to exercise patience as stakeholders pursue diplomatic and official avenues to address Elwelu’s ongoing legal and detention situation.

This diplomatic push by the cultural chief follows similar moves by other political figures in the region. Just a day prior, David Calvin Echodu, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) vice-chairperson for eastern Uganda and Soroti City West Member of Parliament, also revealed that he had sought an audience with the President to address the same contentious issue.

As cultural and political leaders converge at State House, the fate of retired Lt Gen Elwelu remains a pressing topic of discussion among regional representatives seeking intervention from the highest office in the country.
