Buganda’s Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, has challenged leaders in Ssese County to adopt modern technology, practice innovative leadership, and actively take charge of solving local community problems.

Mayiga issued the call during a meeting with a delegation of Ssese County leaders, headed by county chief Kweba Augustine Kasirye. The delegation had presented a comprehensive report detailing their achievements, future plans, and operational hurdles.

Addressing the delegation, Mayiga reminded the officials of the heavy responsibility bestowed upon them by the Kabaka, emphasizing that leadership roles must yield visible, positive changes in ordinary people’s lives. He specifically addressed common grievances regarding island transport logistics, urging leaders to look beyond these obstacles.

“A chief serving the Kabaka today must be equipped with a modern mindset and tools that distinguish him from the chief who served 33 years ago,” Mayiga stated, pointing out that historical leaders administered the kingdom without modern conveniences like mobile phones.

He encouraged the local leaders to champion the Situla Omutindo campaign, which aims to elevate service delivery standards and rigorously implement developmental programs set forth by the Kabaka. Mayiga stressed that true respect is earned through dedicated, passionate service that takes leaders out of offices and directly into communities.

Rather than dwelling on daily difficulties, the Katikkiro urged administrators to think critically and devise smart strategies to support their residents. For more details, read the original report on Nile Post.
