Buganda’s Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called upon the residents of Lwazi Bubeke in Ssese County to place a strong emphasis on HIV prevention. Speaking during a recent community health camp, he stressed that maintaining good health remains a vital foundation for achieving the broader development goals of the kingdom.

Mayiga encouraged community members to proactively know their health status by embracing regular HIV testing. He also reminded those living with the virus to strictly adhere to their prescribed treatments and urged everyone to avoid risky behaviors that could lead to new infections.

The health camp proved to be a significant boost for the area, delivering essential medical services to more than 700 people. Mayiga praised the initiative for successfully bringing vital healthcare closer to isolated communities where access might otherwise be limited.

In addition to the HIV awareness campaign, Mayiga participated in child health efforts by administering the polio vaccine to a one-month-old infant, Carol Kariza. He reiterated that protecting the health of both adults and children is paramount to building a resilient, healthy, and productive Buganda.
