Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Judith Nabakooba has officially launched the disbursement of Shs7.5 billion under the fourth phase of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Mityana District. The funding initiative targets 750 beneficiaries spread across various subcounties in the area.

Speaking at the launch event, Nabakooba, who also serves as the Mityana District Woman Member of Parliament, highlighted that the money is designated to help residents boost income-generating activities. She stressed that the central goal of the PDM is to uplift household incomes and drive economic growth directly from the parish level.

The minister strongly advised recipients to handle the financial support responsibly. She warned them against spending the capital on unplanned luxuries, insisting that every shilling must go into productive enterprises capable of transforming family livelihoods.

According to Nabakooba, disciplined loan repayment is crucial for the continuity of the government program. She encouraged beneficiaries to channel their refunds back through their respective parish SACCOs, ensuring that the revolving fund remains active so that other community members can access financial support in the future.

The Parish Development Model is a flagship government strategy designed to pull subsistence households into the active money economy by strengthening grassroots production and commercial participation. Read more about this development in the Nile Post report.
