Almost one hundred residents in Kikamulo Sub-county, Nakaseke District, have received essential guidance on the effective utilization of the Parish Development Model (PDM) initiative. The beneficiaries underwent preparatory training aimed at equipping them with skills to boost household incomes through proper enterprise selection.
However, local leaders have stepped forward to issue strict warnings regarding the misuse of the financial injection. Nakaseke District Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Sulaiman Kabaale, specifically cautioned male beneficiaries against channeling the capital into personal pleasures, famously warning them not to marry additional wives with the cash.
Mr. Kabaale emphasized that the government disbursement is strictly intended for the approved income-generating projects outlined in individual applications. He warned that strict legal and administrative measures await anyone caught embezzling or misdirecting the funds away from their intended economic purpose.
Beyond financial discipline, local leaders encouraged communities to set aside political divisions and fully embrace government-backed empowerment programs. Kikamulo Sub-county Chairperson Robert Ssenu echoed these sentiments, praising residents for defending community land and commending developmental contributions linked to Gen Salim Saleh.
The PDM framework remains a core strategy for Uganda to transition rural households from subsistence production into the formal monetary economy. Leaders hope that responsible management in Kikamulo will guarantee sustainable poverty alleviation.
