The Buganda Kingdom has called upon schools across the region to actively promote cultural education, stressing the importance of raising a generation that values and understands its rich traditions. This message was emphasized during a vibrant leadership transition ceremony held at Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Busolo, Gomba District.
The event marked the election of new student leaders for the school’s Nkobazambogo association. These student-led groups, championed by the kingdom, are designed to deepen young people’s attachment to their heritage while fostering strong discipline, good conduct, and responsible leadership.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sister Sylvia Nakabiito, the school’s headteacher, praised the Buganda Kingdom for its continuous support of educational cultural initiatives. She noted that the association has played a critical role in shaping well-behaved students who respect their roots and society’s core values.
Lawrence Musisi, the patron of the school’s Nkobazambogo chapter, urged learners to throw their weight behind cultural activities. He pointed out that true preservation of traditions requires active engagement rather than mere words, positioning schools as ideal nurseries for future cultural custodians.
Outgoing and incoming student leaders echoed these sentiments, encouraging fellow youth to join the association and take charge of safeguarding Buganda’s legacy. Read the full story on Nile Post.
