Key industrial properties belonging to Ugandan businessman Dr Mathias Magoola and his affiliated entities, including Dei Industries International, have been put up for public auction following outstanding financial obligations.
According to a public notice published in the State-owned New Vision newspaper by Kampala-based debt collection and court bailiff firm Jald (U) Ltd, the recovery exercise targets multiple high-value commercial and industrial facilities. Among the notable assets listed for the intended sale are the prominent Matugga factory and the Luzira plant, both of which are tied to Magoola’s manufacturing and pharmaceutical ventures.
The impending auction brings renewed attention to the high-profile enterprises, which have previously seen significant government co-investment and public backing. Financial institutions and debt recovery agents have moved to secure the outstanding loan balances alongside accumulated interest through the forced sale of the heavily capitalized properties.
As the debt recovery process moves forward, stakeholders and business observers are closely monitoring the impact this development will have on the future of the targeted manufacturing plants and the broader industrial sector in Uganda.
