Mityana District leaders have issued a stern warning to parish administrators regarding corruption, favouritism, and bribery as the district prepares to disburse Shs7.5 billion under the fourth phase of the Parish Development Model (PDM). The funds are designated to support 750 qualifying beneficiaries involved in income-generating activities.
District Commercial Officer Ivan Kisakye stated clearly that any official caught manipulating the beneficiary selection process or soliciting money from residents in exchange for the funds will face severe consequences. He emphasised that the government initiative is designed to pull households out of subsistence production and into the money economy, meaning the money must reach legitimate recipients without interference.
Kisakye urged leaders to maintain absolute transparency and adhere strictly to official guidelines rather than giving in to political influence or favouring friends and relatives. He noted that the initiative should not become an avenue for personal enrichment.
Residents have also been encouraged to stay vigilant and report any irregularities, such as demands for bribes or unfair selection practices, to the appropriate authorities. District officials maintain that strict accountability remains essential for the successful upliftment of communities across Mityana.
