President Yoweri Museveni recently welcomed Tanzania’s Vice President, Deogratius Ndejembi, to State House in Entebbe for crucial bilateral discussions. The meeting aimed to deepen diplomatic ties and accelerate the implementation of key joint infrastructure initiatives between the two East African nations.
During the visit, Vice President Ndejembi delivered warm greetings from Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan. He emphasized that Dodoma remains fully dedicated to maintaining a resilient and mutually beneficial partnership with Kampala, noting that their shared historical bonds and development priorities are vital for regional prosperity.
The discussions primarily focused on advancing major regional integration projects. Key areas of collaboration included trade facilitation, transport corridors, and strategic energy ventures, with a strong emphasis on fast-tracking the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. The pipeline is designed to connect Uganda’s western oilfields directly to Tanzania’s Tanga Port.
President Museveni welcomed the Tanzanian delegation and stressed the importance of consistent communication between both governments to eliminate administrative bottlenecks. He noted that steady executive dialogue is essential for driving growth-stimulating projects and delivering tangible economic benefits to the citizens of both nations.
Both leaders concluded their meeting by renewing their pledge to maintain momentum on shared bilateral agendas. This cooperation is expected to boost regional trade volumes, improve cross-border livelihoods, and further solidify integration within the broader East African Community.
