Authorities in Nebbi District have issued a strong warning to parents and guardians regarding the treatment of children who have just completed their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Officials emphasize that this crucial transitional period requires guidance, encouragement, and proactive preparation rather than frustration or harsh disciplinary measures over academic performance.
Speaking on the matter, the Nebbi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) stressed that punishing young learners after their exams is counterproductive and can severely affect their mental well-being and future academic drive. Instead of imposing restrictions or undue pressure, parents are encouraged to actively involve these learners in constructive holiday activities.
Preparing children for the next academic phase, specifically the transition into Senior One, is a shared responsibility. Educational stakeholders advise utilizing the post-PLE holiday to equip students with basic life skills, foundational secondary school knowledge, and moral guidance.
Parents have further been urged to collaborate closely with educators to map out suitable academic pathways for their children, ensuring they remain motivated and focused as they await their examination results.
