Health professionals have raised the alarm following the circulation of dangerous health trends on social media platforms. Authorities have specifically warned the public against using cetirizine, a common oral allergy medication, for purported vaginal tightening.
In an official notice, experts explained that cetirizine is strictly designed to block histamine and relieve symptoms like sneezing, runny noses, and itchy eyes. The organization emphasized that the medication has never been approved or tested for vaginal use.
Addressing the claims directly, specialists clarified that mistaking vaginal dryness for tightening is medically inaccurate. While antihistamines can cause dryness as a side effect, reduced lubrication does not strengthen vaginal muscles or alter anatomy. Instead, it can lead to increased friction, discomfort, and a higher risk of tissue injury.
Furthermore, health experts stressed that inserting oral tablets into the vagina is entirely unsafe. The ingredients in cetirizine are formulated to be swallowed and have not been evaluated for delicate vaginal tissues. Professionals also reminded the public that just because a medicine is common and readily available does not mean it is harmless or suitable for every off-label purpose.
Authorities concluded by warning citizens against relying on unverified medical advice found online. Social media can spread health misinformation rapidly, presenting significant hazards to public well-being. Individuals are advised to consult qualified doctors or pharmacists and use medications only as directed on the label.
