The City Hall Grade One Magistrate’s Court has denied a bail application filed by a 27-year-old man accused of circulating false information on WhatsApp concerning Security Minister Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi.

Agaba Tyson, who also goes by Katsgazi Tyson, stands accused of spreading claims that the senior government official was suffering from a serious illness. The charges brought against him include publishing fake news and sending false distress signals.

During the hearing, Tyson’s defense team presented three sureties to the court. They argued that the accused deserved temporary release because he is a student who needed to sit for his examinations the following week, assuring the magistrate that he would not skip future court dates.

However, Senior Magistrate Grade One Edgar Karakire ruled against the application. The ruling was delivered on Friday by Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu on behalf of Mr. Karakire. The court noted that the applicant failed to prove he would reliably attend proceedings, specifically pointing to a previous breach of police bond conditions.

As the legal process continues, Tyson remains in custody awaiting trial. For further details on this case, read the full report on Daily Monitor.
