A 60-year-old fishmonger from Kayunga District has taken his wife of 25 years to local probation authorities following the dramatic revelation of a decades-old paternity secret.
Ramanzan Ssekajja, a resident of Kagoye Village in Kayunga Sub-County who works at the Kawongo Landing Site, sought intervention from the district probation office alongside his 40-year-old wife, Mariam Nakanwagi. The confrontation occurred after Ssekajja ordered Nakanwagi to vacate their marital home upon discovering the truth.
The conflict erupted when Nakanwagi confessed that their 22-year-old daughter—the second born among their six children—was not biologically Ssekajja’s, but rather the result of an extramarital affair. The daughter is currently married and resides in Bbaale Sub-county within the same district.
According to Nakanwagi, the affair stemmed from loneliness caused by her husband’s prolonged absences due to his fishing business at the landing site. Ssekajja, however, remained furious over the betrayal, prompting him to officially involve district authorities to resolve the family dispute.
Local authorities are now handling the sensitive domestic matter to find a peaceful resolution for the affected family members.
