Ten educators from various schools across Uganda have appeared before the City Hall Court to face serious charges related to examination irregularities during the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Presided over by Senior Principal Magistrate Nicholas Aisu, the teachers answered to multiple counts under the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Act.

Prosecution, led by Mr. Benjamin Amaya, informed the court that the alleged offenses took place on November 3, 2026, as candidates nationwide sat for their Mathematics papers. The accused individuals include Kasango Bumali from Mayuge, Paul Enyeni, James Etok, and Godfrey Semalulu from Kampala, alongside teachers from Lwengo, Nakaseke, and Rubirizi districts.

Specific charges vary among the accused. Kasango Bumali is accused of willfully destroying an examination delivery envelope containing Mathematics scripts in Rubirizi District. Meanwhile, five other teachers face joint charges for the unauthorized possession of examination papers. Two teachers from Daffodils Primary School are accused of providing candidates with written answers without lawful authority, while another faces a trespass charge.

Additionally, Emmanuel Waibi, who served as a chief invigilator in Lwengo District, faces a charge of neglecting to prevent a felony for allegedly failing to stop unlawful possession of exam materials in his center. Prosecutor Amanya requested an adjournment, stating that forensic investigations were still ongoing.

Magistrate Aisu granted the request and remanded all ten suspects until November 19, when the court will resume its hearing on the matter. Read the full story on Daily Monitor.
