The Common Man’s Party (CMP), led by party president Mubarrack Munyagwa, is currently facing internal turmoil following the indefinite suspension of its Secretary General, Mr. Moses Bigirwa.
Party Chairperson Mr. James Watentena confirmed the disciplinary action, explaining that the suspension stems from a series of growing disagreements within the party ranks, particularly concerning misconduct and disputes over the party’s official headquarters.
Following Bigirwa’s suspension, leadership adjustments have been made to ensure smooth operations. Mr. Semmindi Asadullah has been appointed as the Acting General Secretary in charge of administration and party liaison. Additionally, Ms. Proscovia Ropan has taken on the role of Secretary General in charge of research.
The CMP, which was officially launched in July 2025 at Jacaranda Gardens in Rubaga Division, was originally founded with the stated mission of protecting the rights and dignity of ordinary Ugandans. However, these recent leadership wrangles highlight the administrative challenges facing the emerging political formation as it navigates the competitive Ugandan political landscape.
