Uganda Police has arrested opposition activists on Monday morning as they were all walking from their respective homes. Dr. Kizza Besigye was the first one to be arrested in the morning and he is being held at Kasangati police station which is currently under tight security.
At about 9:00am UPC's leader Dr.Olara Otunnu was also arrested as he was walking in Nakawa. He was taken to Jinja road police station. The latest information we are getting is that of Democratic Party leader Nobert Mao who was arrested a few yards outside his home as he was starting with the walk to work campaign.
Commuter taxis in Entebbe and Jinja have decided to park and fares in some of these places have been doubled. The fare from Jinja to Kampala has increased from Shs 3,000 to Shs 5,000.
