Former House Speaker of the Eighth Parliament Edward Sekandi will be the next Vice President replacing Prof. Gilbert Bukenya who has been in this position for the last eight years.
The announcement was made by the President during the National Resistance Meeting (NRM) caucus meeting that was held in Entebbe on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
The security minister who also doubles as NRM Secretary General Amama Mbabazi is likely to be the new Prime Minister. Details of these appointments will be made available after the meeting.
