Load shedding plus the cost of charcoal have pushed the demand for gas up as it relatively lasts longer than a bag of charcoal of course depending on the usage and family size. Some of the pump attendants we spoke to said that some trucks were heading to Kampala from Mombasa, so we should be sorted any time soon. Shell Ntinda, Bukoto, Lugogo By Pass, Stretcher road and Nakawa did not have gas as of yesterday and this morning. The 24 hour load shedding coupled with scarcity of gas makes life very difficult for those homesteads that prefer to cook from inside as opposed to cooking from outside. A 16.2kg gas cylinder was costing Shs100,000 but it's unlikely that the price will remain the same during the festive season.
