Action for Change(A4C) members have been arrested as they were in a convoy heading to Katwe grounds where they were to hold a rally to address matters of national importance and among them the interest rates that led to last week's traders strike.
The FDC president Dr. Kizza Besigye, The Lord Mayor Erias Lukwaga and A4C Mathias Mpuuga are among those arrested in what the Deputy Spokesperson Judith Nabakooba termed as a preventive arrest following a breach of peace.
She added that this was a preventive measure and once they establish that all is well, they will release them. Early in the day, police had blocked the homes of the FDC women league Chairperson Ingrid Turinawe and Nabilah Ssempala Nagayi but they managed to beat the to go for the Katwe rally.
Police officers caught up with Nabilah in Katwe as she was heading to the grounds but locked herself in one of the shops which police forced open a move that did not go down well with the residents.
The next thing on the agenda was tear-gas. Police is still heavily deployed at Katwe grounds and Kiira road police where Besigye is being held.
