The ICC ruling on the 2007 post election violence in Kenya
The International Criminal Court in Hague has confirmed charges against four out of six Kenyans over 2007 post-election violence that left over 1,200 dead. Those to stand trial are Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and cabinet secretary Francis Muthaura who were accused of crimes against humanity, persecution and murder.

The other two who were confirmed to stand trial are ex-minister William Ruto and radio journalist Joshua Arap Sang. They have all denied charges against them. Charges against Henry Kosgei and Mohammen Hussein Ali a former police chief have been dismissed.

Mr. Kenyatta is a son to the first President Jomo Kenyatta and intends to stand in the next elections due for next year. Political analysts look at him with high chances of winning.

The Kenyan government has been lobying for the case to be dropped a position that African Union approved.
