The Jinja Municipality East elections have been won by Forum for Democratic Change Paul Mwiru with 6758 votes against Nabetta's 6057 votes. The race had five candidates that included NRM's Igeme Nabeta, FDC's Paul Mwiru, DP's Alex Waisswa, UPC's Osinde Oyo and Independent C.Dhikusooka. The seat fell vacant when the court of appeal cancelled the election of Igeme Nabeta for lack of proper academic qualifications. The case was filled by Paul Mwiru. The President took time off his busy schedule and went down to Jinja to campaign for the party candidate. FDC's Kizza Besigye was also in Jinja supporting the FDC candidate. A car belonging LAVIT an IT company had it's windscreen smashed sn other supporters beaten. Police was able to arrest 14 of them and will be produced in court.
