Kampala city was yesterday under tight security as the A4C activists tried to walk to Buganda Road court as earlier summoned over the death of a police cop John Michael Ariong.
Dr.Kizza Besigye who was charged with managing an unlawful assembly that led to the death of Assistant Inspector of Police John Ariong denied the charges. The Forum for Democratic Change President had vowed to walk to court but police was able to get him to his car.
"Please this time let's not cause violence. You enter your car; we must make sure you get enough security" Sam Omara pleaded. Besigye obliged and got into the prado that was smashed by a one Bwana. Surprisingly, he was putting on the same clothes and cap like it was on the day his Land Cruiser's windows was smashed.
While in court, Besigye was charged with others who included the Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala, FDC Women league Chaiperson Ingrid Turinawe and Kawempe Division Mayor Mubarak Munyagwa. They all denied the charges and were released on bail.
The Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago had also been summoned but was out of station on official duty in South Africa.
After the court proceedings, it was drama once again as the FDC boss and the Traffic police disagreed on which direction to take while leaving court. In this scuffle, Kawempe Mayor Mubarak Munyagwa was seen taking to his heels as police had resorted to the Kiboko squad style of dealing with crowds.
The FDC Boss Kizza Besigye drove around while waving to his supporters with the police restricting his movements as much as possible so that he could not drive towards the city centre.
