The 9th edition of the MTN Kampala Marathon was held last Sunday at Kololo Airstrip. Over 18,000 participants registered to 'run with their hearts'. The top three positions were dominated by either Kenyans or Ugandans.

Kiprotich's recent gold medal has done a lot in motivating Ugandans because in the previous marathons, you could only see Kenyans taking over the first top three positions but this only happened in the 42kms which were taken by Kangor Dominic Kimwetich.

Uganda took the first top three positions in the women 21kms which saw the world steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru take the third position. Below is the list of the top two winners in the 10kms, Half Marathon(21kms) and Full Marathon(42kms).

  • Immaculate Chemutai(193) - UGA- 2:55:10
  • Rachael Jemutai(136) - KEN - 2:55:24

  • Kangor Dominic Kimwetich(153) - KEN - 2:15:59
  • Tarus David Kiptui (286) - KEN - 2:16:55
