The Anti-Corruption Court this morning cleared Captain Mike Mukula of the Shs210 embezzlement case which had earned him a four year jail term. Justice David Wangutusi overturned the four year sentence noting that the lower court had ignored vital information.
Captain Mike Mukula had been found guilty of embezzling funds from the GAVI account by the Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Irene Akankwasa early this year, a decision he appealed against. One of Capt Mukula's lawyers, Ateenyi Tibaijuuka argued that the Chief magistrate erred when she believed that his client had stolen the money minus listening to his side of the story.
On being released, the flamboyant MP said: "Thank God, Justice has prevailed.I am glad God has given me this golden opportunity to be with you." He also thanked the President, his wife, relatives, children plus the elders in Teso for the support they extended to him while in Luzira prison.
