Following Iryn Namubiru's arrest nine days back in Japan for trying to smuggle drugs into the country, her manager, Thaddeus Mubiru has broken his silence. The manager is of the view that this whole thing is a set up.
One Alex Muyomba informed Thaddeus a few days back that Kim Ueno wanted some food from Uganda but the bag containing the food was only delivered at about 11:00am at his home in Rubaga. Thaddeus rushed with the bag to catch up with Iryn whom she found at Najjanakumbi at about 12:00pm driving through traffic to the airport for her 2:00pm flight to Japan.
Alex Muyomba who is a relative to Kim Ueno signed Namubiru's contract on behalf of Hakim Tumwesigye aka Kim Ueno. However, what shocked Thadeus was the issue of Kim not picking his calls or returning messages after it had turned out that Iryn had been arrested.
Iryn was arrested on May 03 but by May 06, Kim who was supposed to receive Iryn for her performance in Japan was already in Kampala. The next thing Thaddeus received was a text message from a third party that Kim wanted to talk to him. Friends and well wishers here have hired a private lawyer for her who has been in touch with her at Chiba Preferectural Police in Otusu Pronvince.
Iryn will know her fate on May 25, which is exactly 14 days from now as to whether she is to be set free or charged. Interpol Uganda and Interpol Japan are working hand in hand to see how best they can handle the case. Interpol Uganda's role is limited in terms of securing her release because Iryn is arrested for a crime they are supposed to be fighting.
Meanwhile, Hakim Tumwesigye aka Kim Ueno who is in Uganda will be giving his side of the story on Monday.
