Miss Uganda Stella Nantumbwe after receiving the keys to her Merc
The results are finally in. The new Miss Uganda for 2013-2014 is Stella Nantumbwe. The official crowning took place last Saturday at Victoria Hall, Serena Hotel Kampala. Present at the event were Tooro Queen Mother Best Kemigisha, Bobi Wine and reining Miss Uganda 2012-2013, Phiona Bizzu who many believed won because of brains as opposed to beauty.

Anita Kyarimpa and Sandra Amongin were the first and second runners up respectively. Stella won herself a Mercedes Benz A-160 which will be serviced and fueled, UGX 18m and dinner for two at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel. Stella Nantumbwe beat 21 contestants to take the crown.

Singers Grace Nakimera and Lilian Mbabazi among others entertained the guests together with comedian Alex Muhangi. REDDS Uganda, makers of an alcoholic fruit flavoured beverage with a crisp, clean apple taste were the official sponsors of Miss Uganda.

Stella, an undergraduate with a Bsc in Business Computing will represent Uganda in the Miss World pageant that will take place in Indonesia on September 28, 2013 at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Bogor, West Java. Bikini lovers are still getting to terms with the fact that their best part, the bikini event has been scrapped.

This will be the first pageant since 1951 to be held without bikinis. However, that section will be replaced by sarongs.
