President Museveni commissioning Pastor Namutebi's church

May 3 - Grand Opening of Liberty Cathedral

President Y.K. Museveni will tomorrow launch Liberty Worship Cathedral in Lugala owned by Pastor Imeldah Namutebi-Kula. The cathedral is arguably the largest in the country with a seating capacity of 15,000. It's taken them 10 years to complete this Shs 6bn project. And she says more projects are in the offing.

This is a milestone bearing in mind that a few years back, a row of benches and iron sheets was what formed this church which was then a 'Kiwempe' type of church.

"I planned the structure myself, and then sought the architectures’ approval and after that we started. We didn’t have money, but people would donate. Someone would say ‘I am donating forty bags of cement. Another would say, ‘I am donating all the doors.’ So this you are seeing is a success story of everyone," Namutebi said.
