'Revenge porn victim', Desire Luzinda, was this morning on NTV talking about her ordeal. For the last three weeks, Uganda has been trending globally courtesy of Desire's leaked pics and now the nanny who tortured an 18-month-old baby.
Talking to NTV's Faridah Nakazibwe, Desire said that she was getting over the issue. More of it here; Desire Luzinda's Oga Leaks Her Nud8 Pic
"I was forced to switch off my phone as Franklin continued threatening me. In the first days, people were judging me saying that look at this monster, how could you do such a thing, but with time, they noticed that I did not take those pics for public consumption. The first days were really tough times."
"Franklin actually called me a week before saying that his friends were asking him for the nud# pics, but I did not take it serious because I knew there were no pics of me out there, but when I saw them, I was shocked."
"Some of the pics I was not aware but others, oh yes, we were playing about in the living room which is normal. They were taken last year and I did not think he had them till now. If anything, I also have his pictures and if I wanted, I would have leaked them as well, but it's not my intention, and besides, I delete."
"Trust you me, most people take these pictures but when mine leaked, I stopped thinking. At the time, I was at my mothers house (she's given tissue)....!"
What Next - Desire now plans to do so many things like advocating for women who have been in similar situations, and, she is still doing music. Desire also tells the young women not to take pics because they could be used against them.
I'm a Hero and role Model - Surprisingly, I've gotten messages in my inbox of people telling me that you are my hero, you are my role model just because of the way I handled this whole thing. This gives me a pat on the back because not every one is hating on me (laughs). I'm a just a victim and I believe, time will tell if I released them intentionally or someone did this to bring me down.
Desire Grateful - I would like to thank Halima Namakula, Annette Nandujja and Sarah Zawedde, they have been extremely supportive. They could come to my home even at awkward hours just to check on me. I was crying and not eating in the first week, but I can't thank those ladies enough.
Radio and Weasel, Mariam Ndagire, Angela Kalule, my managers and so many others have been so supportive during this time and I would like to thank all of them.
Seeks Justice - I'm not into revenge and that is my nature, but if I keep quiet after what happened to me, It's like I'm not fighting for the rights of women out there. First of all, if there were strict laws, Franklin would not have released those pics. So I want this to be a learning lesson to all those who think they will do anything to a woman and walk away scot free. Women are hurt most compared to men when it comes to leaked photos. So I can't sit back, I need justice, not revenge but justice.
