Kampala: The case related to the battering of a child last month by a nanny, Jolly Tumuhiirwe, was on Wednesday transferred to Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's court. On Monday, she appeared at the City Hall court where she pleaded guilty to torture charges. Tumuhiirwe's conviction was expected today but according to her lawyer, Ladislaus Rwakafuzi, he said that City Hall court did not have the jurisdiction to hear the case. When she first appeared in court on Monday, she accepted the charges and also asked for forgiveness from Arnella's parents. "I accept the offence, but I beg every person to forgive me for what I did." Civil activists and Ministry of Gender officials had wanted that the charge sheet be amended to attempted murder but the DPP's Publicist Jane Okua says that the file was only forwarded to her three days back. Jolly has now been remanded to Luzira Prison until Tuesday next week.
