The first ever televised Presidential election debate was held yesterday with seven out of the eight candidates participating. The incumbent was missing something that did not surprise the FDC candidate, Dr. Kizza Besigye. President Museveni was holding his third and last rally in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality a few hours to the kick off of the Presidential debate at Serena Hotel. Bebe Cool who is now en route to Kasese for the Tubonga Nawe campaigns as usual had something to say; "The President needs no debate with anyone, most especially since he needs 30 minutes to answer one question in depth for everyone educated and uneducated to understand, the fact that only 30% of Ugandans understand English so he needs interpretation in at least 3 local languages every time he speaks." This did not go down well with many, some actually advised him to leave issues of the learned to the learned but trust Bebe, he again this morning bounced back defending his earlier position in what he termed as 'simple English'; "60% of Ugandans know English but only 30% understand it..." "Lastly, thank you Mr. President for not appearing because I don't think Uganda is ready yet to have a presidential debate because it only caters for the elite and yet the issues r on the other side more so the vote.
