AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi shot dead
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Andrew Felix Kaweesi, was this morning shot dead 100 metres away from his home in Kulambiro a Kampala suburb. The officer was on his way to Uganda Christian University in Mukono where he was set to address students.
Felix was shot along with his driver and bodyguard in his official vehicle on March 17, 2017 a day after he was appearing as a guest on NTV’s morning show responding to the just released Human Rights Watch report on the Kasese killings.
He was doubling as the Human Resource Director for the Uganda Police Force. His boss, Gen Kale Kayihura is at the scene of crime comforting the relatives who have been denied access to the body to allow investigations to go on. The three bodies were later taken to near by mortuaries.
The gunmen who were riding on a motorcycle commonly known as a boda-boda shot at the police officer's car several times
. Police is yet to issue a report on what exactly happened.
