AIGP, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, shot dead
Assistant Inspector General of Police, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, was this morning shot dead 100metres away from his home in Kulambiro a Kampala suburb as he headed to Uganda Christian University to address students.
Felix was shot along with his body guard and driver in his official vehicle (UP 4778) on March 17, 2017. This is happening a day after he appeared as a guest on NTV’s morning show to respond on the just released Human Rights Watch report on the Kasese killings.
He was the spokesperson of the Uganda Police Force which is at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police. His boss, Gen Kale Kayihura was at the scene of crime comforting some of the relatives who tried to gain access to the officer's body.
According to eye witnesses, the police officer was shot at several times by gunmen riding on a motorcycle commonly known as a boda-boda. Police is yet to issue a report on what exactly happened.
