At exactly 9:55pm a call from the spokesperson of Buganda Medard Lubega Segona through NTV confirmed that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has cancelled the controversial trip to Kayunga citing mounting violence. The situation before the call came in was that the planned visit was still on as far as the officials from Mengo were concerned and the position from the central government was clear that it was not safe for his Highness Kabaka Mutebi to travel to Kayunga. The Kabaka riots had lasted two days but with the cancellation of the trip, calm is expected to return to the city. The challenge is now to alert all those who were planning to travel to Kayunga to abort the plans now that the cancellation came in a bit late. The city had become calm but the riots were instead spreading to the outskirts with Ntinda being the latest.
