Tshabalala scoring his first goal
The Bafana Bafana team of South Africa put up a strong resistance in the first half of the opening match of world cup the first ever on the African soil. Mexico scored a goal which was cancelled due to an offside call.

In the first half, 2 yellow cards were issued. Tshabalala from South Africa scored the first goal in the 2010 world cup 10 minutes in the second half while Marquez scored an equalizing goal for Mexico in the 79th minute.

South Africa missed a goal narrowly one minute to the the end of the official time as the ball hit the goal post. Three minutes were added onto the official time which ended in a draw.
