It is 17 years since the first goat races started in Kampala, Uganda and since then it has been getting better but the one that was held yesterday surpassed all the previous versions. Security was tight as usual those this time around there was no taking chances since the number of guest was estimated to be between 8,000 and 10,000.
Last year the function did not take place as most sponsors pulled out due to the credit crunch but its now clear the credit crunch is a thing of the past and folks are back to partying form. There were helicopter rides that grabbed the attention of most revellers as it was the latest add on this year.
For the first time in Uganda, Aerobatic display was witnessed for some good minutes at Munyonyo. Just imagine the acrobatics that you may be used to but this one was with the plane flying upside and down from the sky above the guests.
This is a family function implying that both adults and children are guaranteed to have fun. There was a children arena with a giant bouncing castle, face painting, clowns and so on making it a memorable event for the kids.
Music, booze, babes, fashion among others were in plenty as the goats that did more of grazing on the track as opposed to racing were on full display. The owners of the goats that won were getting between Shs 2.5million to 6million per race won.
But as all this was going on, some two kids were being announced as having been lost for close to 30-45 minutes back and in spite of the constant announcements on those loud speakers, the parents were no where to be seen.
That aside, this is the best social event in East and probably Central Africa that you cannot afford to compare to any gathering. Photos of some of the hot babes who turned up for the goats race can be found in our Photo Gallery
